Sam completed his BSc (Hons) in Physical Activity, Sport and Health at Sheffield Hallam University in 2020 before gaining his MSc in Exercise as Medicine from 海角视频 in 2021. Following his master's, Sam worked as a Health and Wellbeing Coordinator for over two and a half years. He helped to develop and implement a range of rehabilitation programmes aimed at improving health and wellbeing outcomes of people living with long term conditions, including cardiovascular disease, Long Covid, cancer and musculoskeletal disorders.
Sam joined the CLiMB team at 海角视频 in May 2024 as a Research Assistant and his main research focus was on the NIHR funded Snacktivity programme. In August 2026, he progressed to the role of Research Associate in Digital Health Interventions and now primarily supports the day-to-day delivery of the Activate randomised controlled trial.
Prior to starting his journey at 海角视频, Sam was actively involved in academic research, supporting on community focused health and wellbeing interventions within an English Football League (EFL) Community Trust setting. His research interests are particularly around the use of wearable technologies to promote sustained behaviour change and innovative ways of increasing physical activity to reduce the risk of disease in the population. Sam currently works alongside Dr James Sanders on the Activate project.
Previously accredited as an Exercise Referral Practitioner, Sam has gained a variety of fitness industry qualifications, including BACPR Specialist Exercise Instructor Qualification and Level 4 Cancer Rehabilitation. This practical and clinical experience has also enabled him to support with the delivery of MSc Rehabilitation programmes, particularly on practice-based learning modules.
